Filmed in The Paint Factory studios, our resident artist Judy Watson details her interest in cultural memory tied to place in the TateShots series.
The artist uses printmaking, drawing, painting and installation to explore themes relating to her Waanyi country, Aboriginal heritage and bring about social change.
Judy thrives within our studio space which fosters collaborative work with our community of artists. “I really like the idea of people working together – your hands are busy doing something… and communication gets shared,” Watson says.
“Artists are strange creatures,” Watson continues. “We have that passion to follow through working with chaos, issues within the environment, racial issues – which I look at a lot.”
